The Villa

History and Curiosities

In the 1800s, the land where the villa now stands was privatized. Villa Noseda was built in 1943 and served as a garage and servants’ house to the adjacent historic villa. In the 1960s, the villa was divided into two separate properties and restored. Our family bought the property in 2004 and restored it once again to its current layout and design.

Before Villa Noseda was built, its current garden was once used as a public dock for the Comballi, merchant boats used for the transport of heavy weights such as the Sasso di Moltrasio, and the smaller boat, Lucia, for the exchange of goods such as vegetables, fish, olives and olive oil to be sold in the town square of Moltrasio. The Comballi were sailing boats that used the Tivano and Breva winds, which blow from the north in the morning and from the south in the evening respectively, to carry merchandise on Lake Como.
